My Review
This was a fantastic futuristic romp through the multiverse. I love books about kids using their wits, smarts, and whatever else they have available to solve problems, rescue themselves, and otherwise be awesome. Even better when you’ve got a cast full of excellent representation.
I’ve always been fascinated by particle physics, time travel, multiverses, and the like, despite having absolutely no idea how any of the science works. I appreciate books that explore these concepts in a way that doesn’t make me feel like I’m drowning but also in a way that catches my interest. This book hit that nice spot in the middle where I felt like I was watching cool science happen without feeling like I had to understand exactly how it works to enjoy my reading experience. I also loved the many versions of Earth and how one little event could make the difference between our planet, a planet with highly advanced technology, and a planet where humans never evolved.
The ending brought everything together and inspired many warm fuzzy feelings. I’d love to see more from these characters or more from this world. I definitely recommend this, especially to people with reluctant young readers. There’s a bit of everything in here (action, relationships, family, friendship, puzzles) for kids to get into. 4 stars.
