REALM OF THE DRAGON
by CiCi Cordelia
An ancient legend spanning eras, continents, and worlds. To some, it’s nothing more than a dream. To others, a pretty fairy tale handed down through the generations.
For those in critical need of their own happy ending, a gift.
EXCERPT
Free to ponder, as his mother had urged, Kord shook off the troublesome feeling of being torn in several directions. He knew his parents worried, and he couldn’t avoid the inevitability of choice much longer.
Royals had strict duty to family and kingdom. Kord’s mate had been near her time of majority when he’d traveled to Anglican to meet her. The kingdom in an uproar, her tearful parents had met him with the devastating news of her death. Instead of a joyous announcement of impending joining, he’d returned to Draconian alone.
His dragon had been uncharacteristically silent since that fateful day, and Kord missed his beast’s conversation.
Enough, he thought bitterly, saddened and angered by the loss of a mate he never knew.
Refusing to dwell on things he couldn’t control, he cleared his mind of the memories and dove lower, seeking what enjoyment he could muster from the day.
Suddenly, something dropped onto his back, between his wingspan.
Something cold and soft.
Something that had limbs . . . and smelled unfamiliar. Not of this realm.
“What the demon?” He banked quickly as he felt the lightweight, chilled lump slide precariously to the left. Worried it might fall—whatever it was—Kord maneuvered gingerly, until he could descend safely into an open pasture.
He touched down lightly over the bumpy ground-scrub, careful to avoid jostling his unknown burden, turned his head to glance behind him . . .
And stared disbelieving at a vision from a dream.

REVIEW
Realm of the Dragon is a steamy, heartfelt paranormal romance. We’re immediately thrust into heart-stopping action as Lily runs for her life and is then suddenly transported to another world by the Soul Tree—a magical tree which brings people together who are meant to be together. Once Lily lands in the dragon realm, the rest is pulse-pounding romance and political intrigue to the very end.
Lily is a strong, feisty heroine I could believe in. Her mate, Prince Kord, is her match in every way, both in and out of the bedroom. This story of fated love brought these two together in both an emotionally and physically satisfying arc. I never doubted Lily and Kord were meant to be, and they’re undying love is felt so strongly during their love scenes.
Bakka, Kord’s younger brother, also got a love story, which left me a bit confused. While Bakka’s love was also satisfying, it left me wanting more from both he and his mate. I didn’t feel I got to know either of them enough to feel like their romance was real. I especially wanted more of Bakka. He’s such a fun character.
I also want an entire book of the dragon games. I only wish more of the women had participated. I wanted to see Lily kick butt, especially against the thoroughly bitchy dragoness who wanted Kord to herself.
The villains were fully realized. The jealousy plot felt a little overused, but it was executed well. Everything wrapped up nicely in the end, and I really enjoyed the epilogue. My only other confusion was the tree. After the introduction about what it was and how it worked, I thought it would have been more involved in the story. Overall, a quick read with plenty going on.
